Open-source 2D animation software with a wide range of features for professional and beginner animators.
OpenToonz is a free and open source render animation app and image editor developed by DWANGO for Windows, it's fun, user friendly and well-designed.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of OpenToonz to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this render animation program.
Software for the production of 2D animation
OpenToonz is an open-source full-featured 2D animation creation software.
It has a range of features that allow animators to create traditional hand-drawn animations, as well as digital animations, using a variety of tools such as brushes, pencils, and vectors. It also includes features for compositing, 3D integration, and special effects.
One of the standout features of OpenToonz is the ability to use a technique called "vectorization", which allows animators to convert raster images into scalable vector images. This makes it easier to animate characters and objects with smoother lines and cleaner edges.
